Bedroom Decor: Cake Stand for Beauty Products?!

It is no secret that I am a large fan of anything vintage themed and quirky and so when I was very kindly asked to review something from Out There Interiors, I knew without doubt that it had to be this beauty.

I love decorating my bedroom, its a true hobby of mine. I like to think it has a 'shabby chic' vibe, although I think a majority of the time it is certainly more shabby than chic! So, the vintage theme to this cake stand had me from the beginning.

I have seen cake stands be used to hold beauty products before (eg. Barbara at The Persian Babe) and I really love the idea. Not only do they look pretty and quirky, but they also can hold a lot of items, which are clearly visible at all times. Perfect for just grabbing a product when you're in a rush!

On mine I decided to load it up with my little pots of lotions and potions, as they used to be shut away in a draw and I think they look much prettier on display. Then, all of my products in small packaging, mainly lip balms and spot treatments! Lastly, on the biggest tier I decided to display my nail polishes, which until now had again been stuck in a box in my draw. I think that it looks adorable, and I cannot even express how organised and easy it is to now find what I want. I find it also is helping me to use products a lot more, as like I said they were once tucked away in a draw and forgotten about, now they're there in view everyday and hard to forget about!

Would you use a cake-stand as decoration? Or do you think they should only be used for cakes?!

  2. I've just them before to store my nail varnishes and my silver plated cake stand now is home to displaying my vintage powder compact collection. I certainly think it's fun to reuse and find new uses for vintage items and displays even for things they weren't originally intended for. Mason jars for canning are a great example of being practical and vintage and can hold anything from make up brushes to pencils - although I use mine to display my seashell collection.
