Product Rave: No7 Beautifully Matte Foundation

 No7 Beautifully Matte Foundation -- £12.50

You may be aware of No7's new shade matcher if you have seen it in the television adverts or, if you happen to like me, have had the chance to be 'matched'. Around a week ago I was in Boot's and I was approached by the lovely lady who works behind the No7 counter, she asked if I would let her match my skin and find my perfect shade. I have to be honest and say that I thought it would be useless and a million miles away from my colouring. However, as you may have guessed, I was wrong. She matched me to Calico which is the palest shade in the whole No7 foundation line, which suprised me as I never thought I was really a pale person. My younger sister who appears much paler than me was actually one shade darker, the lady explained that this was because of the colour tone to our skin, with my sister being more pink toned than me.

To cut a long story short, I took away a tester after explaining that I have incredibly oily, spot prone skin of Beautifully Matte in my shade, Calico. I have always been aprehensive of changing my make-up, as my skin is so sensitive and the foundation I currently use works perfectly. But I gave it ago and then 2 days later I went and bought the full size, as I really loved it so much.

I, personally, think it is the perfect foundation for those of us that are unfortunate enough to have super oily skin (look on the bright side, it supposedly means we have less wrinkles when we get older!) It claims to give you a '14 hours shine free complexion' and I totally agree, I am usually sceptical when products claim such big things, but to really put it to the test I wore it to a friends 18th birthday party and all through the night I stayed shine free. I had a healthy glow, not powdery and cakey, and not a hot mess either. It is medium/full coverage and it certainly does last a long time. It is so easy to blend and work with too, as its a light liquid foundation. It contains absorbing powder technology, which explains its super ability to make me look matte! I think it is quite important to apply a moisuturiser on underneath as its quite a drying foundation, it needs that base!

I won't go on for any longer, except to say that if you have oily/sensitive skin, I really reccomend going and asking for a sample. I also really reccomend going and finding out your exact skin tone/colour at the No7 makeup counter, it will shock you as to which shade you are!

Which foundation do you use? Have you had you skin colour matched by No7?

  1. I am SO glad you posted this! I hadn't heard about this foundation until now, and this has been a great help - I, too, have really oily skin! I try everything to make my face look matte, and it just doesn't happen... I'm constantly having to blot during the day! I will have to pop into Boots and see if I can get matched! Thank you for your review! xx
