Neutral/Brown Eyeshadows

I am an addict when it comes to brown eyeshadows. This is my whole eyeshadow collection and as you can see, every colour is neutral. I did have a clear out a few weeks ago in which I got rid of some truly hideous colours that I had aquired from somewhere! I have green eyes, which means that browns really suit me. As a person with green eyes I really doubt that I could pull of pinks, blues, or purples. But brown's really compliment my eye colour, and they also look very natural which is exactly the look I try to achieve!

Sleek Storm Palette
This is one of the most neutral eyeshadow palettes I have ever seen, and if it were a 'build your own' palette, I would have chosen all the colours in it anyway. It holds 12 eyeshadows, 9 of which are shimmery colours and 3 matte. A majority of the colours are brown based, with golds and nudes. There are also two pink shades and an iron blue with a racing green shade. The colours last all day, they do not wear off and they're also incredibly pigmented. Whenever I go away, to a friends house, or just away, I always take this with me, as once I have this there really is no need to take any other shadows. I would highly reccomend it, it is affordable (I believe its around £6.50), compact, and highly versatile. Great for day to night makeup looks.

Collection 2000 Colour Trio in Cookie Dough
I bought this with high expectations, as although the Collection 2000 products are cheap they're also very good quality. However, I was disappointed. The three colours within the trio are perfect for a brown smoky eye, with a pale gold, a bronze and a deep dark brown. The first two colours are highly pigmented, with great colour payoff, whilst the dark brown is, to be quite honest, useless. I had to resort to scraping it with the end of my makeup brush to even try and get some colour payoff, which was still useless. The colours don't last very long, and end up creasing and wearing away throughout the day. I really do like Collection 2000's products, and I would happily reccomend anything else Ive tried from their collection, other than this trio!

Natural Collection Eyeshadow in Crushed Walnut & Eyeshadow Duo in Mocha/Latte
I actually bought the single eyeshadow from Natural Collection to fill in my eyebrows, as it is simply a matte brown colour that perfectly matches my eyebrow colour. However, I have ended up falling in love with just using it, as its purpose, as an eyeshadow colour. For such a cheap product (it was £1.99 if I remember rightly) it has a really great colour payoff, and is suitable for a subtle crease colour for an everyday smokey eye. I prefer to use it a lot more than I do my more expensive eyeshadow colours. The duo, has been well used by me. I bought it to just mess around with, and I ended up using the darker side for my brows. The pale side is, well, quite pathetic in my eyes. There is NO colour payoff whatsoever and I wonder regularly why Natural Collection ever bothered to put it in the duo. I have never used it and thats the reason why I bought the single eyeshadow, as there was no need for me to have the duo.

Clinique Eyeshadow in Platinum Dust & Smudgesicle in Cocoa Pearl
This really belongs to my mother, and I think it was from one of Cliniques infamous freebie kits. I don't know whether its still available now, as I have to say it is quite old (still in the old green packaging!) but I really cannot throw it away as it is the perfect highlight colour. I use it just under my brows and in my inner corner, it is shimmery yet, subtle enough to look like a natural glow. They do sell one now called 'Beige Shimmer' which is very similar. The smudgesicle is a cream eyeshadow colour in a stick form, again, it a product that is not sold by Clinique anymore, which is disappointing as I honestly love mine. I use it very rarely as I love it so much, that I dont want to use it all up and not be able to purchase another one. So if anyone knows where I can buy something similar, please tell me in the comments!!

17 Vintage Eyeshadow in Yeah Baby
I was given this a few years ago, it was part of one of 17's gift-sets which they regularly give away when you buy a certain product of theirs, therefore its not available now. Its a pale gold colour with shimmer, which is perfect for a base colour for a brown smokey eye. There are similar colours to this in the Sleek Storm Palette.

 No7 Eyeshadow in Truffle
This is a colour that I have seen on almost every blog, and is also a colour that most of my friends own. I dont quite know where it came from, but I think this is only the sample size. I have used it quite a lot, and would really reccomend it to those who want to create a brown smokey eye. It is a deep brown, with gold undertones and shimmer. It is perfect for the base on a intense smokey eye, or as a crease colour on a more subtle, everyday smokey eye!

Maybelline 24hr Colour Tatoo in On & On Bronze
I only bought this the other day after I caved into the hype that surronded it, so I havent been able to do a more indepth review. However, I am really pleased that I did bow to peer pressure and invest. I swatched all the colours in the range (except for the scary looking blue colour) and decided this was the one that I wanted. They didnt have the full range, which is lucky I think as I probably would have bought many more than I needed. The Colour Tatoo's are cream eye colour shadows, I personally like to use mine as a base for my other eyeshadow as it makes my other shadow 'stick' and also gives off a lovely golden glow underneath it whilst intensifying the other shadows. On & On Bronze is just as it states, bronze. It is a lovely bronze colour with gold undertones and gold shimmer. Its super pigmented and a little goes an incredibly long way. It is now my everyday eye shadow must have! I will at some point be doing a more indepth review of this product as I love it so much!

What are you must have eyeshadow colours?
Are you a neutrals person? Or are you more adventerous and daring than me?!
and, would you like to see a post on my everyday eye makeup?

  4. wow, its nice to see that you have actually hit pan on some of the products :) I agree that the maybelline colour tattoos are amazing and i need to go out and get the 'on and on bronze' colour as so far i only have the purple one and i am loving it.
I'm suprised that you haven't got the naked palette in your collection as its one of those typical hyped up palettes that most people have; but i guess you have your sleek palette which is a great alternative....i should have bought that instead lol.
    Thanks so much for sharing~x

    1. I have wanted to get the Naked palette for ages, and then Naked2 came out and I then didnt know which one to get! Plus the price really puts me off, especially when the Storm palette has all the colours I need and it only costs a fraction of the price!
Who knows, im sure in the future one of the Naked palettes will be in my collection!! :)

    1. I was asking myself the same question, as I would love more matte colours! Here is a link to all the sleek palettes they do: http://www.sleekmakeup.com/en/categories/eye-shadow-17.aspx
so you might be able to find one there! The 'Ultra Matte' pallette looks really good and obviously they're matte colours! :) The 'Oh so special' Palette also looks lovely with matte, natural colours! The 'sunset' one looks really nice too..but I think the colours in that are again, like the storm palette more shimmer based! :) Hope that helps!
