Baking Analogy

Mastering the skill of baking may seem simple,
but its the intricate eye for details & the principle to follow the rules that I struggle to comprehend.
I have a lacklustre approach in the kitchen and stray from precise measurements and conformities.
(why do all cupcakes have to be neat within their cases? I quite like them as they balloon over the edge..)
It usually always ends well for me, with my culinary delights alas being edible.
I suppose this is an analogy for life, well and truly, you can't always stick to the rules and deviating slightly doesn't bring you any harm, but maybe teaches you a slight lesson on how to improve or change for next time. However, follow the rules too loosely and you'll find yourself too far away, much like an un-edible cake or bake, with too much baking powder oozing out. Being to precise can also be a poor trait, when there are so many confounding factors influencing your choices, a prime example being a cake measured to the decimal, precise and militant, but such factors as a faulty oven, or shaky hands as you place the cake into the fiery heat, can ruin it entirely.

In theory, I am going to treat my life like one big cake baking exercise & I'm excited, not only to sample the creation but to quite literally put my blood, sweat & tears into it.

Above image taken after a rather hopeless baking session, whereupon I burnt my chocolate creation. My mothers cupcakes stand by almost tauntingly, in their superior perfection. Must try harder.
